Shimmering Golden Sugar Ant (Camponotus sericeiventris) is a type of Carpenter Ant. Known for its shimmering, golden or silvery abdomen, which is covered in fine, reflective hairs (giving it a silky appearance). The head and thorax are often darker. Camponotus sericeiventris nests in a variety of locations, including hollow trees, soil, and decaying wood. Omnivorous, with a strong preference for sugary substances such as nectar and honeydew from aphids. They also forage for proteins, including insects and small invertebrates.
