Yellow Warbler

Setophaga petechia

Adult males are the brightest yellow, and have reddish-brown streaking across the breast. Adult females and immature birds are paler yellow overall, and may be yellow-green, grayish, or brownish in places. Habitat is woodlands, brush and thickets, orchards, residential areas. They are often found near water, including the brushy or otherwise vegetated margins around wetlands, lakes, ponds, and rivers. Diet consists mostly of insects, and shows a decided preference for caterpillars. Occasionally it will eat fruits and berries.
