Broad-billed Hummingbird

Cynanthus latirostris

Cynanthus latirostris, commonly known as the Broad-billed Hummingbird, is found throughout the western United States, Mexico and Guatemala. Its diet consists of nectar, small insects and spiders. It builds its nest in small trees or shrubs, using plant fibers and spider webs to construct a cup-like structure. It has a broad, straight bill, giving it its name. Its behavior is typical of hummingbirds, hovering in the air while feeding and flitting from flower to flower.
