CLASS AVES
Osprey
Pandion haliaetus
The Osprey is often seen flying over the water, hovering, and then plunging feet-first to catch fish in its talons. Its diet consists almost entirely of fish. Typically feeds on fish 4-12" long. It is brown on the upperparts and predominantly greyish on the head and underparts. The osprey is unusual in that it is a single living species that occurs nearly worldwide.
