Greater Yellowlegs
Tringa melanoleuca
The Greater Yellowlegs is a fairly large shorebird with bright yellow legs. Gray upper-parts with white speckling, streaky neck, and white belly. Adults have long yellow legs and a long, thin, dark bill which has a slight upward curve and is longer than the head. They forage actively on mudflats and in shallow pools and marshes. They mainly eat insects and small fish, as well as crustaceans and marine worms.
