Adelpha fessonia, also known as the Band-Celled Sister, is a beautiful butterfly found in the tropical and subtropical regions of Central and South America. It is known for its unique pattern of brown, orange and white stripes on its wings. This species can be found in rainforests, woodland areas, and even urban gardens. They feed mainly on flower nectar, but will also go after tree sap, rotting fruit, and carrion. Band-Celled Sisters will often congregate in large groups to bask in the sun and can be seen in flight during the day. Their wingspan ranges from 2-3 inches, with an overall light brown and white coloration.
