SUPERFAMILY PAPILIONOIDEA

Pale-spotted Leafwing

Memphis pithyusa

The Pale-spotted Leafwing, Memphis pithyusa, is a unique butterfly from the Nymphalidae family. Known for its leaf-mimicking camouflage. The outer (underside) of the wings closely resembles a dead leaf, with brown tones and subtle, pale spotting, allowing it to mimic dried leaves when wings are closed.
