White Peacock

Anartia jatrophae

The White Peacock (Anartia jatrophae) is a stunning butterfly in the Nymphalidae family. Known for its delicate, pale wings adorned with intricate patterns, this species is a common sight in open, sunny areas near water. The upper side of the wings is creamy white to pale beige, with intricate brown and orange markings. Prominent eyespots are present on both the forewings and hindwings, which may deter predators.
