Actiniid Sea Anemone

Actinostella bradleyi

Actinostella bradleyi is a member of the Actiniidae, which is the largest family of sea anemones, and to which most common, temperate, shore species belong. It lives buried in sand. It has 48 tentacles. They are solitary predators. Nematocysts found in the tentacles assist in to catching and paralyzing prey. After feeding and digestion is complete, the anemone excretes its waste back through the mouth opening.
