Subclass Octocorallia

Octocorals (Subclass Octocorallia) are a diverse group of soft corals and colonial marine organisms within the class Anthozoa, characterized by their eight-fold symmetry and flexibility. Unlike stony corals, they lack a rigid calcium carbonate skeleton, giving them a more supple and flowy appearance. ach polyp has eight tentacles and eight internal mesenteries (divisions of the digestive cavity). Octocorals are suspension feeders, capturing plankton and detritus with their tentacles.
