Cuphea is a flowering plant, native to Central and South America. It grows as an evergreen shrub in well-drained, humid soils, and prefers full sun to light shade. It has been used medicinally for centuries to treat a variety of ailments. The blooms are usually deep purple, but can be found in a range of colors, and the foliage is typically dark green.
