Tamarindus indica, also known as Tamarind, is an evergreen tree native to tropical Africa and grown throughout India and Southeast Asia. It is now also found in tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas. Tamarind is used widely in food for its tangy, sour flavor and is also used medicinally for its laxative, antispasmodic, and digestive properties.
