The Oecanthus (Common Tree Cricket) is a species of insect found in the temperate regions of North America, ranging from Canada to Mexico. They inhabit most types of trees, shrubs, and plants, and can often be heard chirping near gardens and wooded areas. They feed mainly on nectar, pollen, and aphids. They are usually found in the daytime, on tree trunks or branches, where they use their long antenna to detect vibrations in the air. Oecanthus have large wings and long antennae.
