Banded Wrasse
(Halichoeres notospilus)
Common in shallow waters from in the Eastern Pacific from Mexico to Peru, especially where brown algae exists. Their diet consists of crustaceans, sea urchins, mollusks, and brittle stars. hey typically have a greenish-brown coloration with varying amounts of blue which creates a cross-hatching pattern. Males are darker green dorsally transitioning to light green ventrally with 7 or 8 black bars on the upper half of their body.
