Black-nosed Butterflyfish
Johnrandallia nigrirostris
The Black-nosed Butterflyfish (Johnrandallia nigrirostris) is a marine fish belonging to the family Chaetodontidae. A prominent black stripe runs from the tip of the snout through the eye, giving the fish its common name. The long, pointed snout is well-adapted for feeding on small invertebrates in crevices. It is primarily a carnivore, feeding on small invertebrates, including polychaete worms, crustaceans, and coral polyps. Its long snout allows it to extract prey from narrow crevices in the reef.
