Mexicoa mexicana is a species of fly in the family Ropalomeridae, which belongs to the superfamily Sciomyzoidea. This group includes kelp flies, marsh flies, thick-headed flies, and their allies, many of which are associated with decaying organic matter, rotting vegetation, or humid environments. Usually found on rotting logs, near fermenting fruit, or in humid, forested areas.
