Bistanta mexicana is a species of praying mantis in the family Thespidae. All mantids are predators and all of them are specialists in ambushing prey. It is native to Mexico and parts of Central America. Known for its elongated body and effective camouflage. Feeds on a variety of insects, such as flies, grasshoppers, and moths.
