Moths of Zihuatanejo
ORDER LEPIDOPTERA
Eusarca Geometer Moth
Genus Eusarca
The Eusarca geometer moth is a species in the Geometridae family, which is known for its distinctive wing patterns and characteristic "looping" movement of the caterpillars. This species, like other geometer moths, has a unique way of moving as larvae, where they appear to measure the earth with their "looping" gait. The forewings are generally light brown, gray, or tan, often marked with dark, irregular lines or spots. The patterns can be quite subtle, but they help the moth blend into its environment.
