ORDER LEPIDOPTERA
Dot-lined Wave
Idaea tacturat
Idaea tacturata, the dot-lined wave moth, is a moth of the family Geometridae. The forewings are typically pale gray or tan with several thin, dark, wavy lines running across the wings. There are often small dark dots along these lines, particularly near the wing's edge, giving the moth its "dot-lined" appearance. Idaea tacturata is primarily nocturnal, becoming active at night when it flies in search of mates or food. It is typically attracted to artificial lights during the evening.
