Moths of Zihuatanejo
ORDER LEPIDOPTERA
Brown-shaded Gray
Iridopsis defectaria
The Brown-shaded Gray Iridopsis (Iridopsis defectaria) is a species of moth in the family Geometridae, commonly known as the geometer moths. The forewings are primarily greyish-brown with darker, shaded patterns, often giving the moth its "brown-shaded" appearance. It rests during the day, often in a position that helps it blend into its surroundings, such as on tree trunks, leaves, or other natural backgrounds.
