Manduca sexta

The Carolina Sphinx Moth (Manduca sexta) is a large and striking moth in the family Sphingidae, commonly known as hawk moths. Wingspan: Typically ranges from 90 to 120 mm, making it one of the larger moths in its family. These wings are relatively narrow and elongated, providing an aerodynamic shape that aids in the moth's rapid, hovering flight. This moth is known for its strong, fast flight, capable of hovering in place to feed on nectar from flowers, much like a hummingbird.
