Moths of Zihuatanejo
ORDER LEPIDOPTERA
Fasciolated Graphic
Melipotis fasciolaris
The Fasciolated Graphic Melipotis (Melipotis fasciolaris) is a species of moth in the family Erebidae, which is part of the subfamily Erebinae. The forewings are characterized by a dark, mottled pattern, typically in shades of brown, gray, and black, with a somewhat angular appearance. These patterns often help the moth blend in with its environment, including dark or cluttered areas. It is nocturnal in behavior, and like many moths, it is primarily active during the night. It typically comes out to feed on nectar or other food sources available at night.
