Common Tan Wave
Pleuroprucha insulsaria
The Common Tan Wave (Pleuroprucha insulsaria) is a species of geometer moth in the family Geometridae. Geometer moths are named for the unique movement of their caterpillars, which appear to "measure" the ground as they move, due to their looping gait. The forewings feature a series of wavy lines and subtle, darker mottling that contributes to its cryptic coloration, making it blend in with dry leaves, tree bark, and other natural surroundings.
