Spiders of Zihuatanejo
ORDER ARANEAE
Recluse Spiders
Genus Loxosceles
Recluse spiders are found most often in the south-central part of the United States and live in hot, dry, abandoned areas, such as wood or rock piles. Many species of this genus can live for very long times without food or water. Insecticides often fail to kill the spider, instead intoxicating its nervous system and inducing erratic behavior.
