Sponges of Zihuatanejo

PHYLUM PORIFERA

Porifera, commonly known as sponges, is a phylum of simple, multicellular organisms that are primarily aquatic. Sponges are filter feeders, drawing water in through tiny pores called ostia, filtering out organic particles, and expelling the filtered water through a larger opening called the osculum. They often attach to solid substrates like rocks or coral.
